‘Confessions of the Heart’ anthology includes ‘Proof that there is no God’ first published by Poetry Now/Forward Press –  ISBN 1846020247 – in November 2005.

Proof that there is no God

The tilt of her head,

The curve of her breast,

The waist I’ve encircled,

Of the girl I’ve caressed.

I know in this universe,

That we are alone,

For if God really existed,

He’d have kept her for his own.

***

The gift of her love,

The child that she bore,

The help I’ve enjoyed,

From the wife I’ve adored.

I know in this universe,

That we are alone,

For if God really existed,

He’d have denied me her loan.

***

The wealth of her words,

The light in her eyes,

The soul I’ve witnessed,

At the death I’ve denied.

I know in this universe,

That we are alone,

For if God really existed,

She’d have arrived safely home.
