  • The Tragic Loss of the USA Barque ‘Cuba’ on Holyhead Breakwater by Barry Hillier. This is an account from Holyhead: Stories of a Port which details the part played by Thomas Jones (1840-1890), one our ancestors, in a dramatic rescue for which he won the Royal Humane Society Bronze Medal.
  • An RNLI Gold Medal Rescue by Aled Lewis Jones. This is an account from Ports Past And Present which relates the rescue of sailors from the SS Harold by the Holyhead Lifeboat crew, including our ancestor Lewis Jones (1867-1922) for which he, together with the others in the crew, was awarded the RNLI Silver Medal as second Cox to William Owen (RNLI Gold Medal award).

  • William Owen Coxswain and the Lifeboat Duke of Northumberland by Richard Burnell from Holyhead: Stories of a Port. About the Holyhead lifeboat on which Lewis Jones (1867-1922) was second cox.
  • The Wreck of the Castilian. A short compilation by David Lewis Pogson of contributions from external sources about the life of Richard Jones (1899 – 19..), the nephew of Lewis Jones (see above), who won the RNLI Bronze Medal in his role as Coxswain of the Holyhead lifeboat for saving lives from the wreck of the war-time munitions ship the Castilian off the Skerries in 1943 – currently a work in progress.
